Why I'm writing this book

A coaching tool for authors

Every book starts with a reason. Before the first page, pause a moment to see what yours is. Six questions you can return to whenever the writing gets hard. There are no right or wrong answers. Write what's true for you right now.

Your data stays on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.

About this tool

It's not a test. It's a compass. No one grades your answers or compares them. They're only yours.

Most authors get stuck not for lack of talent, but because they lose touch with the reason they started. When the "why" is clear, the "how" becomes much easier to carry.

How to use it: fill it in at the start, when you begin the book, and return to it whenever the writing gets hard or you start to doubt. The anchor from step 6 is the sentence you come back to. Write it somewhere visible.

With a coach, it goes deeper: your answers open the conversation and become the thread that runs through it.

1

The spark

where it started
2

The readers

who you're writing for
3

The promise

what readers gain
4

Why you, why now

what brought you here
5

If it stayed in the drawer

what would be lost
6

Your anchor

in one sentence

Capture everything you're thinking in a single sentence. This is what you return to when the writing gets hard.
